There have been privacy and security concerns around Xiaomi phones in the past but now Indian Air Force (IAF) is reportedly warning against using the devices manufactured by the Chinese company. According to a report by the Sunday Standard, the IAF has told its officers and their families not to use Xiaomi devices, citing security concerns. The IAF reportedly suggests that Xiaomi devices send data to an agency which reports to the ministry of information industry in China.

रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक भारतीय वायु सेना ने शिओमी फोन इस्तेमाल करने के खिलाफ चेतावनी दी है क्योंकि यह यूजर का सारा डाटा एक एजेंसी को भेज देता है और फिर यह एजेंसी इस डाटा को चीन की इंफॉर्मेशन इंडस्ट्री तक पहुंचा देती है। रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक इंडियन कंप्यूटर रेस्पॉन्स टीम की तरफ से मिली जानकारी के आधार पर ही भारतीय वायु सेना ने यह चेतावनी जारी की है। इस टीम ने यह पुष्टि की है कि शिओमी फोन चीन तक हमारा डाटा पहुंचा रहे हैं।
यही नहीं वायु सेना ने अपने तमाम अफसरों और उनके परिवार को चाइनीज फोन या कोई भी अन्य डिवाइस इस्तेमाल न करने की चेतावनी दी है। एक नेशनल अखबार के मुताबिक भारतीय वायु सेना की तरफ से इशू किए गए नोट में लिखा है, "लीडिंग सिक्यॉरिटी सॉल्यूशन कंपनी एफ-सिक्यॉर ने हाल ही शिओमी रेडमी 1एस का टेस्ट किया है और पाया है कि यह फोन उपभोक्ता का नाम, फोन नंबर, आईएमईआई नंबर, फोन बुक के तमाम नंबर्स और यहां तक कि टैक्स्ट मैसेज भी बीजिंग को भेज रहा है।"
नोट में लिखा गया है, "फोनएरिना रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक कंपनी की वेबसाइट का आईपी एड्रेस 42.62.48.0-42.62.48.255 है और इस वेबसाइट का ओनर डब्ल्यूडब्ल्यूडब्ल्यू डॉट सीएनएनआईसी डॉट सीएन है। यह सीएनएनआईसी चीन के इंफॉर्मेशन इंडस्ट्री मंत्रालय की वह एडमिनिस्ट्रेटिव एजेंसी है जिसका काम मंत्रालय के इंटरनेट अफेयर्स को देखना है।"
